El Guardaespaldas

This Saturday when we were in Madrid, we went to see a musical in Spanish called El Guardaespaldas/The Bodyguard. I loved the music, the acting, and EVERYTHING in the musical, even though it was in Spanish. (I had to look up a summary to clear some parts up).

IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON SEEING THIS MUSICAL, DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING!

It is about a superstar, Rachel Marron who starts getting stalked by one of her fans. Her stalker leaves threatening notes for her, while she falls in love with her new bodyguard, Frank Farmer. But, at the same time, Rachels sister, Nicki, also falls in love with him. Soon, Rachel goes on her first date with Frank. The next day, Frank gets a call from his employer telling him that he needs to stop his relationship with Rachel. This devastates Rachel, as she gets ready for a benefit concert in Miami. Meanwhile, while Rachel is at her show, her son and sisters temporary bodyguard at home turns out to be the stalker. The stalker steals a fake badge from Fletcher, Rachels son, to fake a bodyguard at the Oscar’s. Fletcher and Nicki turn out all right, but this time Frank isn’t messing around. He takes the family to his cabin in the middle of the woods, to be safe. But, on night, drunken Nicki tells Frank that she wrote to the stalker pretending to be Rachel, in order to get attention. She feels as if everything was her fault, and Frank tries to comfort, but soon he goes to sleep. The stalker enters the cabin and pretends to be Frank, and stabs Nicki in the stomach. She dies in Rachels arms. Rachel moves back home with Fletcher and Frank, and prepares for the Oscars. While on stage, her stalker tries to shoot her, but Frank jumps in in time to save her. Frank gets shot in the arm, but survives. Rachel wins an Oscar, and dedicates it to Nicki. The closing scene is Frank and Rachel parting ways with a goodbye.
